процесс расплетения комплементарных цепей двухцепочечной ДНК под действием температуры (см. денатурация ДНК), переход регулярной двойной спирали линейной молекулы ДНК в клубкообразное состояние. Переход "спираль-клубок" может быть вызван различными факторами, но, как правило, исследуется температурный переход. Наблюдение за этим переходом может осуществляться различными методами, так как он сопровождается изменением многих физических свойств ДНК. Наиболее часто для количественных измерений степени перехода используется изменение поглощения света раствором ДНК в области длин волн 250—270 нм. При переходе ДНК из спирального состояния в клубкообразное поглощение раствора в этой области длин волн увеличивается на 30—40 %.Толковый биотехнологический словарь.
